LES PETITES PENSÉES
September 2008
beach party (was-summer list)
- shoveled barbarians into airplanes and threw them off the roofs of rented houses
- made a plain day the colour of rain and circles
- busted out the tightrope again
- poached pears from peeping toms
- followed trees past their prime and into mine
- full-throttled amazement at the latitude of eggs vs. oranges
- groaned at the price of tickets
- laughed at the nonsense of swirled-words from the wrong language
- hummed a whisper late-night bike ride again (the streetcar tracks caught my breath)
- shivered back into an old stolen mink stole
- placed my bets on the wooden horse
- and slapped down stillettos in the cracks of cold, sparkling city pavement.
